About Ljubljana
If Vienna and Prague got married and had a baby, then this would certainly be LJUBLJANA (... but, with its Mediterranean flair, we might assume that an Italian lover was hiding in the bedroom at a certain point ...)
Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, lies between Vienna and Venice, not far away from the Adriatic Sea. Its city region has always lain at the intersection of important transport routes leading from northern Europe to the Adriatic Sea and from western to eastern Europe and further on to the Balkans and the Near East. Road and rail connections have traditionally had good. Not far from the city is Ljubljana Jože Pucnik Airport, the country's main airport.
Ljubljana (pop. 293,000) is one of the smallest European capitals. It’s never crowded – but also never boring. 50,000 university students give it its youthful appeal, and as an economic and cultural hub of Slovenia, it has a lot to offer to locals and visitors alike.
- An exciting mix of different cultural traditions
- One of Europe's top new culinary destinations
- A city with a green soul
- The perfect conference and congress city
- Unforgettable events and venues
Slovenia (and Ljubljana) was in 2014 proclaimed Lonely Planet‘s Best Place in Europe and one of Europe‘s most idyllic places to live by Forbes in 2008.
Ljubljana is already one of Europe’s greenest and most livable cities, boasting a friendly café culture by day, and vibrant nightlife after the sun sets. Slovenia, which is as picture-perfect as Switzerland but much easier on the wallet.
Ljubljana is the European Green Capital 2016
Since Ljubljana is a very green city, with the main park touching the city centre, and Slovenians are in general very fond of nature, the outdoor space and recreation, a lot of possibilities for recharging batteries are available.
Both Slovenia and Ljubljana are regarded as very safe destinations with the crime index positioned at 29,60 and safety index at 70,40.
There are numerous sources that confirm this fact, such as travel guides, articles in international media and social platforms (travellers’ reviews, forums, blogs...).
